Research

Beyond Yesterday is an exhibition grounded in field and archival research. These pages set out its method and its sources: how the rephotographs are made, how the archives are read, how images and arguments can be cited, and where the open questions remain. The page on rephotography is available in all the languages of this site; the other research pages are published in English and Romanian. The same few examples return from page to page (Pades, Laista, the Plovdiv–Sliven panorama): they are the best-documented cases, and each shows a different side of the method.
